Palm Oil Imports

Australia imported 128,000 metric tonnes of Palm Oil in 2005.
(Import statistics at www.indexmundi.com).

This has substantially increased in 2006 and again in 2007. The need for Palm Oil is already established by the large bio fuel market.
We could supply some of this market rather than rely permanently on importing oil. Much of Australia’s Cane land could be suitable for palm oil crops.
