Council Projects
Current council projects for Southern Queensland
Oz Future Fuels provides a waste oil reprocessing service to councils as well as supplying a innovative blending facility.
The onsite blending facility enables the returned reprocessed waste oil to be used in with the diesel while still maintaining Australian diesel fuel standards. The combined Oz Future Fuels/council based projects are providing a working example of onsite full cycle waste oil management. The bio fuel component in the blend ensures sulphur levels are in line with Australian diesel fuel standards.
REPROCESSED OIL AND FUEL BLENDING TECHNOLOGY
The Process.
Making bio diesel from vegetable oil is called transesterification.
- Cracking vegetable oil for example is called transesterification.
- Cracking oil transforms one type of Ester into different types of Ester.
- Ester is a hydrocarbon chain that will bond with another molecule.
- A Vegetable oil molecule is made up of three Esters attached to a molecule of glycerin.
- The main component of this molecule is glycerin with three legs of Esters coming off it.
- Vegetable oil is called triglyceride or glycerol esters.
- About 20% of vegetable is glycerin.
- This is removed through the cracking process to make the oil viscosity thinner.
This byproduct of the cracking process is essential because glycerin is used in the final reprocessing of mineral oil.
Glycerin is a very effective detergent this is used in a process to wash the remaining contaminants from the waste oil.
The blending unit.
Through its innovative technology is able to blend reprocessed oil with diesel fuel to be used in:
- Trucks
- Boats
- Vehicles
- generators &
- other operating machinery.
The technology used in the innovative dual or multiple blending system is a first in blending processes as it allows for an even flow from each pump, to achieve a controlled and even blend ratio that is not affected by viscosity.
This process ensures that reprocessed oils reduce environmental impacts and in turn are a valuable resource.
The blending unit is easy to operate and requires low maintenance which is provided by Oz Future Fuels.
