Black Gold
World First - Boat makes and consumes its own fuel
"Black Gold" is a 21 metre Aluminium Catamaran Engines - 2 x 620 hp
Visitors to this year’s Sanctuary Cove Boat Show will be the first in the world to see the launch of a very unique 21mt alloy catamaran named “Black Gold”. This innovative fuel smart boat can make and consume its own fuel and is set to take the marine industry by storm.
Allan Lear is the brain child behind this innovative oil reprocessing facility which is supported/partially funded by AusIndustry. Allan says “Black Gold is the ultimate water world boat and a reality well beyond my expectations”.
Can you imagine a boat that can reprocess waste oil or vegetable oil into a useable fuel within its hull, as well as blend that fuel at suitable rates with diesel fuel to maintain perfect ratios. In addition “Black Gold” can act as a standby oil recovery vessel to those requiring assistance.
In the starboard hull is a fully fledged workshop which includes; welders, milling machine, lathe, press and sandblasting equipment.
Incorporating the best of both worlds, “Black Gold’s” air conditioned, impressive two deck interior sleeps eleven offering satellite phone and satellite TV’s. The amphibious vessel and jet boat on board provide support for oil spill response or other expedition and research requirements.
“Black Gold” was developed by Allan and Gerardine Lear who have completed a circumnavigation visiting seventy two countries on a previous boat for six years. This blue water experience along with Allan’s vast international oil field work has given them many of the ideas for “Black Gold”. They welcome all Sanctuary Cove visitors.
